Stacey focuses on helping clients understand their rights, empowering them to make decisions for themselves, and protecting their best interests at all stages of the legal process. Also, as a Certified Advanced Divorce Mediator, Stacey brings her years of experience and skills as a practicing law attorney to her Mediation practice. Her appreciation of the Mediation process has enabled her to think outside the box when structuring settlements for both pro se and represented clients.

Stacey has established a professional reputation for thoroughness, keen attention to detail, strategic thinking, loyalty, and dedication to serving her clients. Stacey and her father, Robert “Bob” Smythe, formed a partnership in Auburn WA, known as Smythe & Smythe P.S. Inc., serving the Family Law needs of King and Pierce Counties for many years. After her father passed in 2009, Stacey continued practicing Family Law and Estate Planning for clients as Smythe Law Offices in Federal Way. In 2020, Stacey relocated to Bellevue, joined forces, and merged with a longtime friend from law school, Marianne K. Jones, in January 2020 as partner/owner-operator of Smythe & Jones PLLC. Now Stacey works remotely and in person and can accommodate clients all over the State of Washington.

Stacey handles cases that range from complex financial issues, contested divorces, paternity, support modifications, child custody disputes, relocation cases and high asset and complex business divorces. She will also review, update and prepare your Wills and Estate Planning documents. Proficient at negotiating resolutions and aggressively pursuing litigated outcomes, she handles straightforward family law cases, pre-and post-marital agreements, and Property Settlement Agreements. Jordan obtained her Juris Doctorate from California Western School of Law in 2016 in San Diego, California where she graduated with an area of concentration in Health Law and Policy, with Honors, with a focus in Medical Malpractice Litigation. During her time at California Western School of Law she was inducted into the Pro Bono Honors Society after completing over 100 hours of pro bono legal service.

Jordan joined Smythe & Jones at the outset when Smythe & Jones opened in January 2020. She is the eldest daughter of partner Marianne Jones. The two have worked together at Jones Law Group PLLC prior to the inception of Smythe & Jones PLLC. Jordan passed both the California and Washington State Bar exams shortly after graduating. Jordan currently practices in both Washington State and California.

She speaks conversational Spanish which enabled her to provide legal service and aid to the homeless and indigent individuals in San Diego California through the Community Law Project.

Jordan is currently on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Board of her law school California Western School of Law as the Events Chair where they were able to provide financial grants to recently graduated law students and secure the first in decades, Alumni Weekend.

She has been dubbed the Settlement Queen of the law firm resolving a significant percentage of her cases in a wide array of matters from general contract disputes, divorce, child custody, parentage matters, racial discrimination, disability discrimination, business disputes, property, HOA disputes, construction defect, and general consumer law.

Jordan’s high exposure to a wide variety of areas of civil and family law litigation provides her with extensive general and specific knowledge that she utilizes in all aspects of her cases. This experience coupled with her exceptional communication skills helps her to effectively and diligently represent her clients in both the litigation and mediation context.

Marianne K. Jones

Marianne Jones is a graduate of the University of Washington and Seattle University School of Law. She has been litigating civil cases since 1991.

Marianne started out her career at a medium-sized business law firm in Everett, Washington. In 1997, after becoming the head of litigation for that firm, she purchased the assets of the firm and started Jones Law Group PLLC, a civil business litigation firm that focused on securities fraud, construction, real estate, employment, civil rights discrimination cases, and appeals.

​In 2015, Marianne was also the Chief Financial Officer and General Counsel for, Alaska Bulk Water. In January 2020, Marianne brought her civil litigation talents to join forces with her longtime friend from law school, Stacey Smythe, who practices Family Law and Estate Planning opening up Smythe & Jones PLLC. Marianne uses her detailed knowledge of the civil rules to litigate in federal, state, district, and administrative tribunals.

​Throughout her career, Marianne has been known as an entrepreneur, “go-getter,” unafraid of any challenge, unapologetic for her forthright and matter-of-fact demeanor, yet very patient with co-workers, clients, attorney’s and the courts.

​Marianne grew up in Clyde Hill, Washington, and married the boy next door in 1989. She and her husband have raised eight children and fostered others all in the Bellevue area. In her early years, Marianne enjoyed skiing, auto racing, and working at Nordstrom and Fredrick & Nelson. Now Marianne enjoys traveling, raising her dogs, and visiting with friends and family.

Marianne has also served as a pro tem judge in King County District Court since 2009 and truly enjoys serving the public in that role.

Angela Johns

Family Law Paralegal

With over eight years of legal experience working in family law, Angela Johns has developed a sharp eye for case intricacies.  Ms. Johns is an honor graduate of Warner Pacific University, a Certified Guardian Ad Litem, and obtained her Paralegal Certification at the University of Washington.

As a paralegal who has quickly built a successful career path, Ms. Johns assists Ms. Smythe in all facets of family law and probate matters.  Her previous paralegal position at another well-respected firm, and her experience as a Guardian Ad Litem, have given her the skills to not only be well versed in office legal experience but experience in the court room.  As a Guardian Ad Litem, Angela investigates complex family law matters, produces a thorough report for the parties based of the best interest of minor children, and testifies as an expert witness.  As a paralegal, Angela is the primary point of contact for clients and works closely with Ms. Smythe throughout the litigation process drafting pleadings, conducting legal research, and preparing for mediation or trial.

Having a family herself, she understands the true nature and importance of fair representation on behalf of our clients.  When she is not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her four children, gardening, and the great outdoors.

Brian Maydole

Civil Litigation Paralegal

Brian Maydole brought his background and experience having previously served as a legislative assistant in Olympia, a county commissioner in Douglas County, Washington and a school board director in Cashmere, Washington. Long having an interest and experience in legal issues as they interacted with these positions, he pursued and completed his Paralegal Certificate at South Seattle College in 2019 and joined Smythe & Jones in 2021. When he is not in the office serving the three attorneys and clients, he is a passionate sports fan- following his favorite team, the Mariners. He enjoys reading books regarding historical political events and subjects and the occasional round of golf.
